Sheila - Administration

My career started in 1986 predominantly in the retail sector, achieving Department Manager after 2 years working for a small independent Department store.

After 6 years I reduced my hours to concentrate on raising a family, but still had a foothold in the retail sector although only on a part time basis. I had by now moved onto a large DIY retailer and held numerous positions for the next 19 years and enjoyed a wide range of challenging projects.

My decision to leave and join CAD Works Design Engineering has been my best career move. I joined the company in April 2008 as the Administrator, a role which I find enjoyable and challenging and I am excited by the diverse skill set that I am developing through my new role.

As part of a tight-knit team my main role is centered on Accounts, General Administration, and Reception Duties
.

What is a typical day like in the office?

I work closely with our team of draughtsmen and also liaise externally with clients.
I invoice clients and collect payments, book time to each client & also complete my colleague’s personnel timesheets, pay wages, answer the telephone and deal with any general office queries, which may be as diverse as booking business travel to printing drawings for a client.

What attracted you to CAD Works?

I joined the Company because of the small intimate feel that it portrayed. I experienced firsthand the relaxed atmosphere, its values, and its commitment to its clients to provide an excellent quality of service.  This is achieved by supporting its employees through its open and friendly environment.  This was a key selling point in me agreeing to take up this role.

What do you like most about working for CAD Works?

Within the company each colleague and client is treated as an individual with different needs.  Perhaps the most satisfying aspect of my role is being able to deliver a high quality of service to meet these needs and help to make this company a success through teamwork.
