Virtual Site Engineering
Originally developed for the energy sector, our Virtual Sites have been developed to recreate existing sites in 3D, with the added advantage of being able to embed engineering content such as legislative documentation and safety certificates.
The programme is bespoke to each client’s requirements, individual site conditions and applications. This can be anything from a food or process factory to a power station or oil rig.
The initial scope of works for the Virtual Site Map is a joint cooperative between the client and CAD Works to set out the basic building blocks to suit the application. The overall site general arrangement sits on the front page of the VSIte; the site is then split into sub assemblies then to component level.
The major difference to conventional methods of site layouts is that relevant documentation is contained in the same space as the drawings.
Some of the many benefits of the Virtual Site:
- Easy to understand and navigate 3D overview of the site allowing engineers to view any area of a site without actually being there
- Important information can be tagged to relevant components or areas. This removes long paper chases – especially useful during periods of audit, down time and outage control meetings.
- Project planning assistance tool.
- Check sub-contracted designs and plant for fit before the expense of installation to eliminate any added modification costs which may be incurred.
- New Builds – Audit and construct the site prior to real build. It then becomes an ‘As Built’ tool after handover from constructor to client. The virtual site then evolves into a long term maintenance tool, changing as the actual site does.
- Risk Management
