CAD Works Engineering Ltd is heavily involved in an exciting project with Carlisle College; producing an Advanced Manufacturing Centre (AMC) which will enhance the learning and training of up and coming engineers from across the region.
Carlisle College identified a gap within their training facilities. With the help of a steering group, comprising of local industry and business representatives, they have secured Regional Growth Funding from Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership to help fund the AMC project.
Working in partnership with local manufacturers including Pirelli, Nestle, McVities, Princes Foods, Calder Foods and ourselves, a list of equipment and services that would support the development of the engineers of the future within the community was drawn together.
- State of the art welding simulation
- Industry standard lathes
- Laser cutters/guillotine
- Industry standard rig for higher level fault diagnostics
- Control, maintenance and installation of advanced manufacturing production lines (based on food production/processing)
- Suite of new computer aided manufacturing equipment
- 3D scanning and printing
CAD Works is proud to have been involved in the project from the very first steering group. We have willingly invested heavily in both time and effort to ensure the success of this project.
Our scope of works is to provide the mechanical install for the AMC – a replica of a miniature production factory. We are working closely with PK Engineering the (providers of the electrical control for the rig) to deliver current instruments and control technology which will allow the students to get a head start when beginning their journey into engineering.
The project is due for completion December 2016 and we will be updating our media pages with progress reports along the way.
